August 14, 2019
What is Low T &  Andropause? Low T (or Low Testosterone) Low T is an unbalanced level of the testosterone hormone in a man. Sometimes it’s also called hypogonadism. It’s one of the primary sex hormones. Important for the development of male reproductive system such as testes and prostate. Testosterone is one of the major hormones in men – it is responsible for muscle mass, facial and body hair, and deep voices, among other things. Low T typically affects men the most. Women can also have a lower level of testosterone – the symptoms just look a little different. Some common symptoms of Low T or andropause include:
  • Brain fog & trouble making decisions
  • Feeling of “I’ve lost my edge” and “I’ve lost my mojo”
  • Loss of muscle tone
  • Decreased strength and stamina
  • Mood Swings
  • Depression
  • Decreased confidence
  • Loss of sex drive
  • Erectile dysfunction
Andropause or Manopause Low testosterone – aka “Low T” affects men at an earlier age than it used to. Often joked about as the “mid life crisis” or “manopause” – the reality is that your hormone levels typically drop 1-2% every year. This means that by the time you’re in your 40’s, you’ve lost almost half of your hormones! In medical terms – Low T is often called andropause, similar to menopause that affects women. Rarely do people talk about it. They might say it’s not a guy thing. Not true! Things like chronic stress, loss of a job, kids going off to college, and major life events often directly impact the testosterone levels in your body. Low T may cause you to feel changes in your body, both physical and mental. Get your hormone levels checked by someone who specializes in hormone optimization.
