What is a Myer’s Cocktail?

February 26, 2019
What is a Myer’s Cocktail and How may it help? A Myers Cocktail is an intravenous infusion of vitamins and nutrients. The cocktail contains more than a half dozen vitamins and nutrients which may boost your health. The vitamins are injected directly into your bloodstream through an IV which can have an immediate and noticeable impact.  Most often noted is an increase in energy and reduced fatigue. The cocktail is named for the late John Myers, M.D. who used intravenous injections of nutrients to treat many chronic conditions. (1)  The purpose of using IV therapy instead of oral supplementation is two-fold.  First, infusion bypasses barriers to absorption.  Second, infusion supercharges the body with therapeutic levels of healing nutrients that can be effective immediately. (2). How Does a Myer's Cocktail Help? A Myer's Cocktail suggests that by increasing the blood concentration of several essential vitamins and minerals through intravenous drip it bypasses the digestive system which often interferes with absorption due to a poorly functioning or compromised system. The vitamins flood the bloodstream, pass through cell membranes and straight into the mitochondria. This injection "jump starts" the cells, allowing them to function properly and with energy. The IV drip also allows cells to replicate healthy cells and perform their intended functions effectively. What Conditions Could Be Improved with a Myer's Cocktail? Many conditions have demonstrated they may be improved with a Myer's Cocktail infusion. Below is a list of some of the most common ailments that could be improved by an infusion:
  • acute asthma attacks
  • migraines
  • Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
  • fibromyalgia
  • severe muscle spasm
  • upper respiratory tract infections
  • seasonal allergies
  • cardiovascular disease
  • improved wound healing
  • enhanced circulation
  • improved mental focus
Also, Myer's Cocktail restores hydration, strengthens the immune system and improves energy.  Some studies have indicated that a Myer’s Cocktail may help cancer patients feel better during chemotherapy and possibly improve their response to chemotherapy.  (2) How is the Myer's Cocktail Administered? To begin treatment, a small catheter is inserted into a vein, and the infusion is given very slowly over 30-60 minutes. Side effects are rare and are usually limited to irritation at injection site. Common sensations during treatment are heat and flushing (a magnesium effect), and the taste of vitamins after the infusion begins. Results vary by person, but most clients report feeling more energy within a day. Optimal outcomes from the treatment are usually fully felt by the fourth visit. References:
