ESWT : Non-Surgical Treatment
Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy (ESWT)
Despite its name, it does not actually "shock" you. One benefit of ESWT or extracorporeal shockwave treatment is that it's fast and painless. It's been used in the medical field for different health issues for decades. ESWT uses strong sound waves to target a specific area of the body.
Non-invasive and high-energy acoustic waves break down tissue to promote healing. The sound waves are mechanical, not electric, and delivered through the skin to the body area using a unique device.
ESWT creates micro tears in the tissue, as when you exercise, your muscles strengthen. This helps the tissue heal and improves blood flow and nerve function.
It can be used for:
- Birth | Episiotomy Scars
- C-Section Scarring
- Tense Muscles
- Muscle strains or sprains
- Plantar fasciitis
- Tennis Elbow
- Tendinopathy
- Frozen shoulder
- Ligaments and tendons
- Knees including osteoarthritis
- Increase clitoral sensitivity
- Urinary incontinence
- Vaginal Dryness
The number of side effects linked to ESWT is quite small. Minor side effects may include temporary discomfort, redness of the skin, and swelling in the treated area.
